Hi,

I've just set up a little HP 2133 netbook running Windows 7 Home Premium for a friend. It's running sweet just now but that said it hasn't got a lot installed on it yet.

I was wondering what opinions people had of what Anti Virus to use, one that has a small software footprint and uses the least resources. I run the current version of Avast on most of my PC's, it seems to use very little in the way of resources compared to some AV's, do you folks reckon it will be ok on a netbook?.

Thanks. :)

I've never tried MSE but heard good things about it. I think I'll give it a go on this netbook and see how it runs. Cheers guys.

Me personally i wont use anything apart from Nod 32 or Kaspersky,im currently using Nod 32 which is the best AV available imo

For a free AV i would use Avira

Lots of people saying MSE, but can it really do the job?

My Avast Internet Security runs out soon and Im in the market for some new software, HSBC are offering me a 12 months free McAfee Plus package but tbh after previous bad experiances with that stuff many years ago I dont think I want to try it, even if its free! lol

McAfee is a pile or crud, you may as well install Norton as well just to make sure your PC takes 8 minuets to load.

I think MSE is good, it installs quick, updates quietly, no pop ups or splash screens, lightweight and made by the people that make your os. So yeah i think its pretty good, when my Nod32 subscription runs out i may move all my pc's over.
