What app for cleaning up the mac giving it a performance boost?

So I am looking for a good free application that allows me to clean up the whole system if possible?

What do you guys recommend?

Oynx/Cocktail/Maintenance all do the same thing really.

If it makes any difference I have no idea.

Most of the important things like permissions can't be done while booted from the disk, so I have partitioned off a space on another disk which is a carbon copy of the SSD boot disk.

I then am able to wipe the SSD, perform a secure erase on it whilst running the above applications, copy the system back to the SSD, run permissions check and everybody is happy.

Never had to use the backup HD in anger yet tho.

I use the terminal and AppZapper when removing apps.

The commands you need are:

sudo periodic daily
sudo periodic weekly
sudo periodic monthly

I also delete the contents of the cache folders in Macintosh HD>Library>Cache and Home>Library>Cache
