Hello,

My pc booted for the last time today and it would seem the power unit has died.

The pc spec at the mo is:

Shuttle XPC SN25P
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
1GB Corsair Memory
500GB HDD
Invidia 6800GT
DVD-RW

I've had the system for a few years and I'm not sure if to buy a new shuttle PSU or upgrade.

Desk space isn't that great so i'm not sure what to do, what would the cheapest option be, as I cant seem to find a new PSU for the shuttle.

Well the Shuttle PSUs aren't a normal form factor so if you wanted to replace it you'd have to hunt around for one. I'm not sure how easy or difficult they are to find, maybe someone else can clarify this.

But if you could find one i'm pretty sure it would be cheaper than replacing the whole lot.

What do you do with your PC? Gaming? Office work? Do you feel you want something faster? Do you have much of a budget for any "upgrade"?

I'm thinking the cheapest option would be to get hold of a shuttle PSU as the cost of a case + PSU + motherboard is going to be £150+ where as a replacement PSU would be (hopefully) less than £80 ish.

The pc is only used for tv, photo stuff, web surfing etc etc, and not used for games or graphic design.

I would check out FSP - Fortran Source. They make some really high-quality power supplies and in different form factors.

I found a direct replacement psu for my sn45g which is as good or if not better than a shuttle item imho :)
