there are still huge shortages of Wii's everywhere... I have tried ALL electrical/game/music/supermarkets in Derby to be told the same thing... They have no Wii's in stock and have not had any since before xmas and they all went on the day they came in stock. Nintendo said they wanted to sell 4million units worldwide by the end of the year and 6million by the end of March... Well DURRRRR.... If you dont have the 4Million units to sell and get into shops on time then its a completely stupid statement to make... I am seriously thinking of just buying another 360 now as i am completely disolutioned with the whole thing. May pick a second hand one up later in the year.

Way to go Nintendo!

Maybe you should have pre-ordered one months ago if you wanted one so bad, this is nothing new and as said it happens every time a console launches. The Wii is flying off the shelves and Nintendo are making a killing, I don't think they could care less about some guy on a forum who couldn't be bothered pre-ordering.

To be honest whats out you will get bored off quickly. By the time stocks are plentifull there should be some decent games to play that fully utilise the control system.

Some of us don't believe the marketing hype & want to see reviews before we part with our money/orders.

It took me two weeks & 5 towns before I found a shop with stock :)

Chill out dude, every console has shortages at launch, iirc nintendo actually had more consoles at launch than Microsoft or Sony did

While I agree to a point, Nintendo did make a bit of fuss about having enough to go around, then actually were way short of their target.

Exactlly my point. I didnt pre-order because a) in almost all nintendo press releases they stated there would be plenty for everyone to get b) i dont have a credit/debit card so cant purchase online and finally c) even if you did preorder you wasnt assured that you would get one on release.

Every high street shop that stocks the Wii has told me they won't have any until at least the middle of January, it's pathetic, I was able to pick up an Xbox 360 only a couple of day's after Christmas last year.

While i would agree you should be able to forecast the demand you are likely to receive, i do believe Nintendo have exceeded their own expectations with marketing and response to the product. My old man asked me about the Wii and my sister wants one.. these are people that really have never been bothered about games before.. it appears Nintendo may have tapped a whole new sub market..

They said they'd sell 4 million by the end of the year. I think they've managed 3.2million which isn't bad. They've probably produced enough, I think distribution is the problem. Anyway, don't get angry with Nintendo, it's not a permanent situation.

I thought they sold that many in Japan at launch.

I know they reckon it was something like 400k in Europe over the launch weekend, and they've been getting more out in small (but fairly constant) shipments on a regular basis since then.

Walked into the main highstreet store yesterday in Enfield and picked one up. :) They had a poster in the window "New stock, Limited Supply". 3 availablem at 4:40pm, wasn't like i even got there early.

So these rumours about supplies in mid January are all scaremongering by people trying to sell for silly money on Ebay in my opinion.. :o
