What are "normal" temps for the Q6600

I just checked my temperatures using SpeedFan and they seem quite high but I dont know if they're normal or not! I just have the stock heatsink/fan and my case is an antec ultimate gaming 900 which I would've thought might cool things down better.. anyway here are the temps:

Is that normal for such low cpu usage, or does the heatsink need to be re-mounted with fresh thermal paste or something?

Cheers

mate i think its fine

mine are 47-50 at stock, with a case temp of 39'ish... all i have in my case is a arctic freezer 7 pro cooling the cpu (Q6600 at stock) and an nVIDIA 8800GT at stock with stock cooling... the case is an Antec NSK6000 with a stock 120mm fan on it, and that's set to low at the moment... my PSU is currently a cheap 300W Qtec with an 80mm fan on it (i'd say it pushes under 30cfm of air)

but this was about 15 mins after a 45 min session of Halo gaming, but that doesnt stress the system so yea, mine are probs very close to what i get idle.

i think you're fine to be honest, the intel stock cooler isn't exactly great anyway

don't you have to add 15c to speed fan temps, or am i wrong. either way those temps are a bit high for idle at stock.

theres a lot of factors - ambients,case airflow,cooling,installation skills

does look maybe a little high for stock and idle even in summer but nothing shocking, stock heatsink and all.

Yeah its not overclocked or anything, just completely stock. Havent tested the temps when I'm playing games yet but I'll give that a go soon to see what its like. Would I notice an improvement in performance if I invested in a higher quality heatsink/fan?

version 4.33 of speedfan and onwards reads the temperatures correctly for a Q6600.. those temps are fine for the stock cooler as long as you dont go above 75c on primeload then that fine

The only improvement would be temperature, but even a cheap aftermarket cooler like the Freezer 7 Pro can reduce temps a nice chunk.
