i was building a am5 system when i bumped into a bundle on the forums for me, so i now have a spear am5 motherboard.
i was thinking of giving me son an upgrade, his cooler is a PA120 but his case is small, so wanting to know what a 9600x/9700x are like with temps in a gaming only system.

air flow is good in front out back but the system is also holding a 4080s tuf that dose generate a bit of heat, and you know summers coming.

i had a 7600x a bit ago that was easy to cool, are the 9000's better or worse

Temps still can spike quite high, just a product of a tiny chiplet with high heat density.
But for 9600X and 9700X power use is a better than 7000 and still easy to cool, especially at stock 65W setting

IIRC they run slightly cooler than the 7000 series across the board at the same TDP.

And as stated above, the 9600X/9700X stock TDP is 65w (88w PPT) so it's definitely easier to cooler than a stock 7600x which is allowed to hit 142w (but is more like ~120w)
