What are the advantages of the Crossfire Upgrade

I'm not au fait with all the ins and outs of what the various ingredient parts can do. Can someone explain what the Crossfire Upgrade will give me that the Crossfire without the upgrade provides?

Crossfire is just running 2 graphics cards at the same time, so instead of 1 5770 you would have 2, normal it gives around 90% performace boost so basically makes games run faster
