hello all

i,m needing a new rig soon, and may as well use the latest of latest, ddr3 is so high at the moment but i may opt for that.

my question is, i had a good experience of the asus 965 deluxe mobo and was thnking of getting the p35 version ddr3 buit i read about the x38 and i see that pcie 2 is just around the corner, is there a huge benefit of this?

i,m not overclocker, not intersted in SLI or XFire, the system will be kitted with 4 hhds and 8800GTX and 2GB ddr3 1333 ram if i can afford it:)

thanks all

pci-e v2 has twice the bandwidth of pci-e v1 slots and also features improvements to the point-to-point data transfer protocol along with its software architecture.
It also supports higher power draw through the slot

The P35 supports pci-e v2 however it is most likely that it has not been enabled in the current range of boards.

As for DDR3, wait for it to mature and come down in price, ddr2 is great value for money as of now and the huge premium of ddr3 just isn't worth it.

hi lay z boy

thanks for that

thats very strange because you would think it will be avilaable with the p35, is like when the 965 came out 2 months laters it was xfire, do you reckon that it could be the same for p35 where bios update will enable the pcie-2.

as for ddr 3 ya thats totaly silly prices i,m seeing all i can find is the corsair.

the 8800 gtx is pcie 1 so i dont think i'lll benefit there, but possibly future cards will as i tend to update quite frequently.

just a bit surpriced that the p35 did do this or its diabled, so stupid :)
