what are the best to set these to?

what should i set cpu smart fan control and cpu smart fan mode to on my i7 920 D0 on stock settings and stock HSF?

I do not have an Intel setup but for my AMD I turn off the CPU smart fan control becuase my fan is not loud at the max RPM. Essentially this will ensure your CPU fan is always running at full speed regardless of the CPU temp and speed (if speedstep is turned on).

As far as I am aware you may be able to leave the Fan Mode on Auto which should suffice.
