What are the better 7970's to go for?

is it just ocuk though? or are other retailers different? if so then that's probably where ive got it from

atleast I was right on msi being based in the netherlands:(:D

I think its only OCUK, the retailer usually only deals with the first year I believe.
So you did well :)

ahhh :D

so have you decided on a 7970? id highly rate the powercolor cards, msi are good also

gigabyte tend to fail a lot unless you get a good un

No not yet lol. I think I will just wait and see what decent offers come up before I decide just wanted to know what makes to go for. I keep seeing sapphires coming up to, I do like MSI though and HIS get good reviews.
If a really cheap 7950 came up I may be tempted but would prefer the 7970 for future proofing tbh.
Im too impatient to wait for the new ones as they will be pretty expensive on release I would imagine.

wait till the new series amd cards come out, they will be out soon, might get a better deal on older series cards

sapphire are ok too ive owned a few 5770 and 5870 cards

Yeah I know I should but I get impatient lol. Also Im guessing the 9970 will be mega money and Im not sure if the 9950 is released at the same time? Then you have to wait a couple of months more for the older cards to drop going by the nvidias recently

I sent 4 HIS 7970s back to OCUK. 1 was DOA and the other 3 had the loudest buzzing/coil whine I have ever heard! It got so loud I thought they were going to pop and you could hear it with the door closed halfway down the stairs. I would go Gigabyte everytime or MSI. Its always worth paying a little extra for piece of mind than just getting the cheapest. You get what you pay for in my experience.

HIS RMA is a nightmare as well or so I have heard. To be fair that may be just the posts I read and,as such,is comfirmation bias but that was how I understood it. I recall them not being so hot on that RMA post that was kicking about with returns time/ratings listed.

HIS RMA takes quite a long time. It took 5-6 weeks for me if I remember correctly. Actually it could have been longer.
Anyway I'd go for the Vapor-X, no doubt.

Well see what deals come up hey. If there's not a decent one then looks like I will end up waiting

I keep seeing cheap 7950's coming up they are getting closer to the £200 mark now :) Although I will hold out a bit longer as I would prefer a 7970

How do people still not know their rights.
Even if ocuk only do the first year, they will still act as a middle man for the remainder years.

So as far as it matters, ocuk will take care of the warranty as you'd still be dealing with ocuk, although in the years after ocuk don't replace it directly and re waiting on manufacturers, it may take longer, albeit still within the 28 working days which is always touted.

I have pre ordered that one :) the 7950 was quite tempting though but I thought the 7970 was worth the extra. .
Thanks for clearing that one up :)
