What are the currant differences between Nvidia and AMD graphics cards

I know both will have some good cards but is there anything one does that the other does not ?

Don't listen to these n00bs :D , i'll give you the honest answer , Nvidia cards have a mainly green logo, Amd radeon cards have a mainly red and black logo. Whats more important than the cards are the respective fanboys, both will defend the indefensible , see dark where there is light and light where there is dark.

Other than each others 'features' which unless you use 3d (nvidia) or use a 3 monitor setup (works best with Amd eyefinity) both will display graphics on a monitor at varying levels of performance.

Dont listen to anyone blab about phyxs (nvidia and not massivly supported) or mantle (Amd and runs on 2 whole games and a really bad benchmark) neither are worth one over the other right now.

Read some reviews, dig through some feedback on forums and buy the best you can afford.

Thanks, thats very useful information for me, i was going to see what's the best vard i can get for my budget

For £381, I bought a £320 290 that magically turned into a 290X in less than 60 seconds, £54 for a Corsair red 120GB128GB SSD and a £7 golden ticket for 3 games.

You were bumped!:D

Seems like each time I get a red card, with the money saved from Nvidia's (usually slower)equivalent, I get a free SSD, got 4 now LOL.

how did you manage that ?

Yes you got a good deal, I got a better deal though with a gpu and ssd.;)

'bumped'-scots slang=paid over the odds(In my view between our comparative performance/games/total tech purchased for the same monies) was simply tongue in cheek.:)

But as long as we're both happy that is the main thing.

AMD released X amount of 290's that were full fat 290X, they used a 290 bios and sold them as 290's, word gets out on what models are likely to be 'unlockable' and when you get one, you **** yourself laughing watching others pay way over the odds for slower/lesser specced gpus.

AMD did it with the 6950 too, yes I bought two of those as well, £380 got me 6970 CrossFire that kicked the utter **** out of the 580 that cost anything between £435-£485.

Tommy purchases wisely or not at all, fps BBFB EVERY time. ;)

How do I find out which models can be upgraded ?
would it be dangerous changing the bios and would it void the warranty ?
