What are the games every Steam account needs?

I have had Steam for many years and love it and was wondering what games are "must haves" in your library?

I also want to know what games I am missing out on especially with the sale being so close.

There are plenty of recommended games, but as said it all depends on what you like. For example, many like Mass Effect, but despite four attempts I haven't enjoyed it that much.

A best of for every genre I guess as I don't a specific collection myself, very random with ANNO 2070,Batman, Bioshock, Cities XL, Dirt, Driver, Farm Sim, FM, GTA, L4D, Limbo, Payday, CIV 5, Sniper, Skyrim, Trials evolution, LOTR, Shogun, Xcom

These days I'd probably chuck Borderlands 2 on.. although that's tentative. Bold ones are probably my personal must haves due to constant deals or just very, very good games.

Valve complete pack is usually 80% off in the steam sales. Definitely one to pick up if you don't own most of the games in it.

Indie games like super meat boy, binding of Isaac, Amnesia(Not sure if that counts as indie).
