What are the worst “console” practices that have crept into PC gaming?

I bought the Halo Master Chief Collection on Steam the other day. I played the first Halo game on Windows when it came out but none of the others.

I’ve been playing through it and I’m currently near the end of Halo 2. Overall I am enjoying it.

One thing that grinds my gears though is the checkpoint system rather than saves. Personally if I am playing a single player game I want to be able to save it whenever I choose. It seems to be much more of a “console” thing but it crops up more and more in PC games (normally console ports I think)

Another thing that bugs me (often in combination with the above) are unpausable cut scenes. Again this seems to be something that has crept in from console games.

Anyone else got any “console” features they really hate seeing in PC games?

For me, I think it's designing the game weaponry around the D-pad. So in Borderlands, for example, you can only carry four weapons - each of which maps to a cardinal point on the D-pad on a gamepad. On PC, we were used to having multiple weapons selected from 1-9 on the keyboard.
It is funny, I hadn't even thought of that but on thinking about it I agree 100%. Having an arsenal of weapons on 1-9 was part of the fun of first person shooters.
