What are these amps called?

Remember seeing some small amps that have phono in and two outputs for speakers, nothing more. You could get them for about £30 from the bay.

Anyone know (from my lovely vague description) what these are called. And also if they are half decent?

There are a variety of them. Some seem to be better than others i believe (the name Muso springs to mind for some reason)

I have one (albeit modified to allow extra inputs) and its fairly decent for background music. It’s never going to replace my main am but for Kitchen/background listening duties you can’t really beat them

Cheers guys. Have a couple of bookshelf speakers lying around and the left speaker on my TV is knackered although the phono out still works. Thought it would be a nice solution to put these to use and get some better sound.

Anyone know a decent one to go for? Seem to be around the £25 mark so worth a punt.

I used a Muse for a few years, still going strong now at my parents. M50 I believe but I think its a bit over £25.

Once you get in to T-amps you'll find that the cheap ones need a better wall wart power supply if they're going to deliver much real power. Even then you're looking at only the equivalent of about 6-10 Watts from a good conventional stereo amp. Speaker efficiency is going to be important if you like to listen at volume.

If it's simply low price you're interested in then you could do a lot worse than look at one of the Creek 4040 amps. These are hugely under valued classic British Hi-Fi amps. All the mad money chases Mission Cyrus. Creeks are equal (or in some areas better) sonically, yet change hands for just £40-£70 on the bay.

Its not so much cheap im looking for, its the size that appealed to me. Im very limited for space so I could probably just mount one of these to the underside of the desk and never notice it.

The muse M50 as mentioned above seems readily available and affordable at about £50. I'd imagine that will probably do the job.

I have a couple of real cheap ebay t-amps driving wharfdale modus cubes they are great for background music and would work a treat for a TV.
