the little hubs that mute speakers when headphones are plugged in, got a 'real' name for them? I guess they are avaialble to buy, but I can only fnd that ugly looking trust one? Can't think of a proper name for it!

This could be a big factor in the pc vs hifi speaker choices! for the hassle mainly

I thought it would be quite a common part nowadays too? Or do people use USB headphones more and more now? (can't imagine that being true though)

Well personally I haven't used one since 2002ish, since then used digital out for my speakers and normal speaker out/mic in for headset so don't have to faff with any wires On board sound is pretty good these days so it must be an option for most today?

aha nice, good thinking, but not as easy to quickly adjust volume or switch from speakers to headphones though I'd imagine.
