Hey guys,

I'm selling some stuff on a certain auction site (Denon PMA520 Amplifier, Denon TU460L Tuner, Marantz 52 II CD Player and Akai CS-F12 Cassette Deck. If you're interested contact me in trust.)

They use some sort of weird old plug which is, apparently, specific to hi-fis so I was wondering if someone could tell me what they're called?

I don't have a picture of the plug, just the socket unfortunately.

Thanks in advance,

You know what, i have seen them before but i can't think of the name of them. Does the 6 way extension lead not have anything printed on it.

Oh, and just to let you know that it is frowned upon if you try and sell your stuff in here but that is why they set up the Members market and they now have a dedicated section for Audio equipment.

Thanks, I had a look on the plug and it says Micromark Multi-Connector BS5733, but I can't really find anything more about that on Google.

Thanks for the advice, I was just offering a cheeky heads up haha! I want to sell them on the auction site and I don't think I can just link to it in there...

That multi-socket is not specific to hi-fi's as far as I know. I used to have one on my hi-fi and other stuff, but it was just a space saving multi socket you used to be able to buy and then wire yourself.

Interesting...I actually need to buy one as I'm selling the extension lead that came with the stuff I'm selling. Need it for the record player I got with all the other bits.

If anyone can work out the name that'd be great! Thanks

Lol, that is actually what that lead is called, a "Micromark Multi-Connector". I used to do a lot of maintenance work in B&Q stores and one of the main suppliers of electrical connectors/lights/plugs and so on where made by a company called Micromark. Micromark went bust about 3/4 years ago i think and that is why you won't find much info on them.

The lead you have is not hi fi specific but is just what someone has put on your hi fi to save a bit of space as the mictromark 6 way extension lead is smaller than an ordinary 6 way extension lead with normal plugs on it. So if you just replace the micromark plug on your record player with a normal plug (with 3amp fuse in) then it will be fine.

Oh right. I suppose that if anyone buys them they could switch up the plug.

ha ha. I had one of these in the 80's for my Spectrum/TV/Tape deck. As said its just a generic plug + adapter to save space. Just wire the plugs back to normal plugs and youll be fine.

I've put it on the auction that people can change them, cheers.

Yeah as I vaguely said, I need to change the one on my record player to a normal plug. I was born in late 89 though so I don't know anything about all this old stuff!
