What are you going to do with your unused 7/8.1 licenses come July?

I have at least one unused Windows 7 key that isn't currently in use on any machine (it was a retail key used on a HTPC I've since got rid of). I don't have any spare PCs to put it on and don't want to put it on a dual boot for the sake of upgrading it.

Is there anyway to register a 7 key as upgraded to 10 without installing Windows?

Just disconnect the Main C: on one your PC's and plug a spare harddrive in and install and upgrade onto that and after you finished just plug the old drive back in....

Shouldn't take that long..

I think Microsoft will spot that the MB already has a W10 license associated with it and wont issue another one. Or best case you will be issued a second license but for hardware that it will not be used on in future.

That is my concern, linking it to specific hardware.

Has the transfer-ability of Retail 7 licences upgraded to 10 been tested and confirmed yet?

Win 7-8 retail licenses turn in to oem win 10 licenses.
It's not an issue though is it ? as you can just call that number to activate it.
Does make we wonder why they even sell retail versions if one can just keep using an oem license and change hardware fine ?
