What are you saving up for?

It dawned on me recently that I'm saving like a man with a plan, but I've no idea what for. I know there are things I want in life like a house of my own (who doesn't?), but nothing I want, including a house, seems like it's ever going to be financially viable.

I feel like I'm limiting my lifestyle hugely for some impossible dream whilst everyone else has the cars, the holidays etc. I suppose I'm saving for the hope that one day I'll do the math and something amazing happens.

Short or long term, what are you saving up for?

I can't save, I have a house and the associated bills to pay for.

This is actually a fear of mine and a reason I stated a house as being financially unviable for me. I wouldn't like to buy a house if it completely disabled my ability to save thereafter.
