As the title, I'm just wondering if people are using mainly third party apps, or a combination of products?

I know WSUS is likely to be used, that in combination with SMS? There are so many options out there.

Can people give me there thoughts, benefits and negatives of the software they use?

At the moment SMS is used for app deployment and ITMU within SMS is used to handle patching. It works great and is really good for us, the reporting is excellent.

SMS is being upgraded in a week or 2 to SCCM where I'll use the software updates functionality of that to manage my clients. This is based on/uses WSUS but it integrates into config manager.

Ill try not to take the thread off topic, but what are your opinions on LanDesk, i know a lot of people in the industry use it, were currently in the market for remote control software and a support desk application.

For people who are using SCCM and WSUS seperately, is there any reason not to just use SCCM for patching as well?

Can understand maybe not wanting to use SMS as some people have issues with ITMU (even though I like it :p)

Currently SCCM for apps and WSUS for patches, but looking into just using SCCM for it all, also use Centennial for software asset management licence compliance (or at least we try to!) and asset inventory.

snap, discovery + license manager (although it's now frontrange not centennial).

Company bought it just after I started without consulting me so rather than leave it gathering dust where it should be I feel like I should make some effort to use it :)

Went for SCE 18 months ago, and it fairly good, apart from there being no real documentation about the system cetntre part of it, you can manage part of it through THE WSUS console, but then why buy SCE2007. Currently have loads of issues with it, but that's down to my deployment, and the lack of knowledge on it, what with being an early adopter of the product.

App deployment is done with GPO's atm, and im half way through getting SCCM fully working on our site as well. Just havnt had the time to finish it off.:p.
