What are your 'must have' options / functionality?

Inspired by a thread over on Pistonheads, I thought I'd ask here!

Personally, I wouldn't have another car without climate control, parking sensors, xenon headlights, electric seat adjustment, bluetooth with audio streaming, USB / iPod support, and a multi function steering wheel. Sat nav isn't absolutely critical but it usually offers a better interface for all the other functionality.

I'm referring to "daily" cars, btw. I know you don't want any of the above in a track car :)

aircon is the only must have, I can compromise on anything else because of age and my budget, for example a 1k Mondeo won't have Bluetooth, NAV or 'leathers' but it's a grand.

Climate control, xenon headlights, electric seat adjustment, folding wing mirrors, auto headlight, auto windscreen wipers, cruise control, aux in port for stereo.

Cruise control is the absolute crucial deal breaker option that i wouldnt consider a car without. Anything else is insignificant compared with that for me.

Nice features to have which i would very much hope for on anything half decent:
- Satnav
- Auto wipers
- Auto lights
- Auto climate
- Auto gearbox (proper torque converter, no DSG style jerky boxes for me)
- Heated leather seats
- Parking sensors
- Radio with 2 tuners (pre selection type which lists the stations)
- Some sort of MP3 ability, be that via CD/DVD changer/drive, aux in, or USB, doesnt matter.

Xenon headlights are one thing that i honestly couldnt care less about, i do not understand the hype one bit. I have bi-xenons on a couple of my cars and it makes no difference to me at all.

Climate, cruise and a multi function wheel are about the only things I really really want to have in a daily driver.

If I wasn't using it very often, prob ac would do me

Air conditioning, cruise control, leather steering wheel, lumbar adjustment/good seat.

As of a few weeks ago my car has none of these (chipped AC radiator). My biggest gripe since getting my car is the material used on the steering wheel closely followed by the lack of cruise.

I've current got pretty much this + Bluetooth, Keyless entry/start, decent Sat-nav etc, but for me, the 'essentials' are:

Cruise / Climate / Decent seat adjustment / Steering Wheel adjustment and electric windows.

I'd agree with Muffin that a/c is probably the only 'must have'.

It would be nice if my next car had the following (in order of importance):
Xenon headlights
Aux or USB input
6spd box or above (I really don't miss the droning noise doing 80 in 5th on a motorway)
Leather Seats
Armrest
Electric windows and mirrors
Heated windscreen
Variable speed wipers
Climate control

Really depends, stuff like climate control, cruise control etc is a given for me.

Problem is you get used to stuff, so what i'm really unsure about is would i be happy to own a car without radar cruise.

Climate control, cruise control, auto wipers, auto lights, USB and bluetooth are my only real requirements.

Wouldn't consider a car without all of those (unless retrofitting is an option) but anything else is just a nice to have.

Heated seats and air con are my two must-haves.

Toys like auto headlights and wipers, parking sensors etc etc are all nice-to-haves and tend to make your driving experience much easier and generally safer as they allow you to concentrate on actually driving the car.

I've never seen the fascination with cruise control though.

I've never seen the fascination with cruise control though.

I wouldn't call it a necessity but if you do a lot, and I mean a LOT, of motorway miles, then having this would be definitely a plus. Beats resting your foot on the pedal for hours and hours.

I don't have any must haves really. as mentioned, AC is nice. I would quite happily have an exige or similar as my daily and just accept that it is what it is.

not fussy, I enjoy driving though so I wouldn't want a car with more luxuries than my living room.

Climate Control (it's hot here!)
BT
Rear reversing camera now I have one, it's excellent
Cruise
Auto window mode, press once it goes all the way up/down thing
Trunk(boot) release on fob
Auto dimming rear view
oh and SiriusXM satellite radio, it's just good.

Climate control (manual air con sucks)
Ipod/usb support
Electric windows
Electric mirrors
Footrest next to the clutch (my old mk6 fiesta st didnt have one, got so annoying on long drives)
Remote central locking
Intermittent wipers (amazingly not stock on the mk3 mx5 but retrofitted by the previous owner)

Thats it really. The only thing I wish my mx5 has that it doesn't come with in the spec I own, is cruise control.

If it was a track car or something really exotic then I could forgive a car not having those things mind. But for a daily...thats the minimum. Really don't see why auto lights or auto wipers are a deal breaker, Ive had a car with both and they just got annoying (wipers never quite cleaned the screen enough for my liking unless it was monsoon conditions). These features strike me as a solution to a problem nobody encountered. Not once have I bemoaned the onerous task of turning on my headlights or wipers.
