What are your thoughts on this Merc?

your selling a 96 audi for a 97 merc?

i think you need to put your trousers back on :p

My thoughts is that it seems like a pointless move, both the same age, both the same to drive, both prestige brands.

The merc looks fine, but it depends on what is wrong with your audi as to whether i'd consider it worth changing.

Keep the Audi, the Merc will fall to bits. Then kill you.

...And your wife, kids, dog and next door neighbour.

*n

Save some serious wedge just incase the box needs replacing at some point.

Overall though, it seems alright. I quite like them, the Auto is nice and smooth but itll be a soft comfy ride rather than a well handling car.

The Mrs has decided that our 96 Audi A4 Avant 1.8se has to go for this
Will this handle any better than the current car?

Not enough that you'd notice from the passenger seat.

It lists In Car Entertainment, is it just the cassette player listed or something special.

How depressing. :(
I would say you should take a big stick to the missus. :p
Of course when she takes it off you and beats you with it i will be nowhere near.
The only thing worse than owning and driving that car would be to own and drive one of those space bus thingys.
Whenever i see a man driving a car like that i think poor guy totally castrated without a drop of semen left.

Then of course once she has ridden the man in you she just cannot understand why you don't act like an animal in the bedroom anymore.

My Plan.
Tell her you are going to buy it then when you have all the money together run off and buy a proper mans motor. :p

Ok lads wifey drives the car mon-fri to work/the school run and I use the car mostly on weekends or occassionally when we go out at night). She was even considering an A-Class for the swap coz she now needs the 3 pointed star and also the link above is not the exact car but something similar w/leather, cruise and the like.
To be honest coz of other finacial commitments for the next 2 years we can only have one car which she drives the most hence can wear my boxers till then.

If she's only got about 3-4k to spend she's going to have to put her desires for a three pointed star on a back burner until she's got more money. She's clearly a badge snob, which is fine, lots of people are and if it makes her feel good then great, but nobody is impressed by 10 year old C Class's or A Class.

And my comments are purely for fun mate.
Had this discussion many times and its a horrible situation to be in.
goes like this.
Honey i have found a great car thats half normal price and has every extra going and has a 20 year warranty.
Her= I dont want it.
You= Why its gorgeous.
Her= Don't like green cars do i, you know that.
You = AAArrrrrggggghhhhhh gets gun feels suicidal. :p

Like you say she drives it most so just let her pick one and make sure she don't get ripped off.
Pointing out respected womens cars help. Like madonna choosing to drive a Mini.
I would find a car i liked owned by a woman she respects and try to influence her decision.

I think I've managed to change my Mrs mind at last thanks to some paintwork bubbles on all wheelarches on a £4000 S reg example we went to see yesterday. The dealer pointed straight that there was nothing you can do to stop the rust coz the car was not galvanized as our Audi. This made an impact on her decision coz I told her that even if we find a mint example it will suffer from the same problem a few years down the line. So it looks like we may be hanging on to our trusty A4 for a while.
By the way the car drove superbly and felt slightly better than our car though.
