*big edit*

turns out the rainforest was being a massive rip off, listing what i was after for 50p, and charging £5 to deliver it to me. the stuff would be cheaper if i bought it from OcUK when i get free delivery.

this has now turned into a 'spec me a TiM remover' thread, which is kinda annoying, because i believe there was one a month or so ago. if theres a good way of doing it for free, that would be great. if theres a product i can get super cheaply, i would consider it.

thanks for any help (and if someone can dig up that old thread i mentioned and post a link, i'd be most greatful)

iv never used anything else than arcticlean kit, works perfectly and lasts ages, pity ocuk dont have any stock as you say :( im interested in the results of this thread, will keep watching

Verrrrrrry strong lemon scent xD All of the remover are basically the same anyway. I have ArctiClean and AKASA TIM Clean and they're both the same.

Just to clarify the first point made by the OP, it is not the rainforest themselves who are selling it for 50p plus £5 carriage, but one of their 3rd party market place resellers.

However a quick search of the well known UK auction site shows it on offer for £5.39 with free delivery, which ain't bad. Not quite as cheap as OcUK, but it does at least seem to be available, and appears to be the product of choice with those who have posted so far... and yes, it has my vote also!

I tend to use the purest Isopropyl Alcohol I can get my hands on - your local pharmacy will be able to order you a huge bottle of the stuff which will last you years.

I use a cotton but to get most of the gubbins off and then to a final polish with a lint free cloth - you'll know it's done when no more grey residue comes off.

thanks. thats the one :)

i wouldnt be surprised if we have some of that in the garage....we've got everything else in there. if not, then i'll go for whatevers cheapest out of the akasa cleaner and the Isopropyl Alcohol

With the standard greases I tend to leave them in place. Obsessively removing every last trace and then putting more of the same on doesn't make a great deal of sense to me.

Occasionally I dab a bit more on if too little remains. A consequence of this was using a mixture of as5 and mx2 under a waterblock for a while, can't say I noticed a change in temperatures relative to the clean & replace approach.

im going to be going from the AMD stock stuff to the corsair H50 stock stuff. so im definitly getting rid of the AMD stuff. i dont want a trace of this ****hole of a cooler left :p

It's what I use and I find it really good. I'm sure you can do it cheaper but it was convenient for me to buy it at the time.
