Hi
At natwest when i pay in a USD$ cheque they like to charge me "negociation fees". Are there any banks that won't do this? I am going to be getting another usd$ cheque soon and want all of it, not all of it minus whatever the bank wants to take

Thanks

So you don't expect to pay at all for them clearing it domestically and in the US? Whilst I think some banks service fees are extreme, I think that's slightly ambitious. I know of no bank to do this. How much do NatWest charge? I do know UK banks that offer US $ accounts though, which may help you. There are better, more efficient ways to receive your funds.

Ask the payer to remit the funds by SWIFT preferably in GBP. Also, ensure that they quote your bank's SWIFT code, as you may find that a payment remitted with a valid SWIFT code is cheaper to receive.

Alternatively, the USD account is a good idea, it means you don't pay for the conversion and are not subject to exchange rate fluctuations while you retain the funds in USD.

Natwest charges £10 to cash US cheques, you can cash several at once tho. I save about 6k worth before I cash them.

Oops, you already said Natwest. I have yet to find a bank thats less expensive, Halifax wants £30 per cheque :/ let us know if you find a better one ;)
