As i have a bit of spare time over the holidays i have decided to have a shuffle about of old pc parts/computers
Parts list below
abit ab9 pro
ga p31 ds3l
Q6700
4x800 ddr2 ram 1gb sticks
4x1066 ddr2 ram 2 gb sticks
2x800 ddr2 2 gb sticks

I am undecided whether to go for more ram over higher speed ram
Use of pc is just a dumping ground and additional secondary backup so no gaming etc. This pc is/will not be used for long periods just to backup etc

also got about 8 hdds to fit in(got a few spare sata cards to use if necessary

Mainly want opinions on which mobo and weather to use more slower ram or less faster ram
Cheers :)

Thanks for the advice
No raid as this is just for a dump system really and the drives already have drivepool installed(So photos/docs are backed up 2 times on here and elsewhere too)
psu atm is a 380 w Antec but i have a 550 cic i can put in there
Not wanting to buy additional bits as nothing is critical that is stored on the drives:)
Gpu wise i am using a very old 8400 gs

Just noticed that the abit mobo only supports upto 800mhz ram
So final question before i start
8 GB of 800mhz(1066 ram downclocked) on the abit

or 4 GB of 1066mhz @1066 mhz on the ds3l (giga mobo won`t support/boot with more than 4 GB of ram)

Only using 1 addon sata atm,That is a pci-x sata 2
Can`t fit any more than 1 more hdd in that case anyway (got 9 hdds in total in there)

Put it all together the other day and it would not boot at all, turn out that the gfx card died on me (took a while to figure this out :o)
All working fine atm:D
