what board is better for overclocking my quad please?

The boards been out a good while now and shouldn't really need any more BIOS updates. It's rock solid, and any new CPU's will most likely be on the brand new Intel socket.

I have an IP35 and have come from a p5n-e sli. The p5n I had could only OC my Q6600 to 3Ghz and even at that my comp was pretty unstable. After switching to the IP35 I am now able to push it to about 3.6Ghz but the temps are a little toasty for my liking so I dropped it to 3.4 for the time being.

Also it has an external CMOS switch on the back for a bad overclock and loads of other features. I cant recommend the board more mate

I have used both and out of the two I liked the Asus a lot better. In my opinion the p5k premium has to be one of the best p35 boards going, its also very very easy to overclock a Q6600 with it.

Woah the OP's edited the first post since I gave my recommendation.

Now it's just a case of tossing a coin. Tho I do love my IP35 Pro.

I'm quite fond of my IP35, haven't bothered updating bios, but it's been faultless for me. It took my Q6600 to 3.8ghz (Booted, and tested for 20 mins), although, I'm back down at 3.3 for the sake of respectable temps.

Pretty much anything P35 will do you, but the ASUS will give results faster although the Abit might give another few percent ultimately.

If it was me (and I've had almost every P35 motherboard out there), I'd buy a Gigabyte P35-DS4, but purely because I like the simplicity of the Gigabyte's BIOS.

why not consider a p45 chipset?

they are not too dissimilar price wise to the p35 boards you have mentioned

I've read that the P45 boards can be harder to overclock that the old school P35's

I vote IP35Pro (not the new XE updated one either)

Currently running Q6600 @3.6 on air..

^^Seconded, the Asus P5Q will easily overclock your Q6600.

If not, then go for Asus. My last 3 PCs have all ended up with Asus boards (even if thats not what they started with) simply because I find they're the best.

+ 1 for P5K Premium. When i was deciding between these 5 months ago, the general consensus was that the Asus board had the edge.

./shameless_plug I'm actually going to be selling mine this weekend if you interested
