Just looking at book readers which one is the best? Looking at the price of EBooks they seem to be extortionate, is there a way to get the price down? Is it better to get a tablet PC, and would this make buying EBOOKS cheaper. Any help would be appriciated.

There are thousands of free books available under project gutenburg which can be easily converted or read natively on most readers.

I agree though that the price of digital versions of books is ridiculous and often just a few pence less than the printed version. I doubt if prices will fall dramatically, just look at digital game downloads, they are still mostly more expensive than the retail versions. Disgusting really.

We get most of our books from Amazon as we now have 3 Kindles in the family, although I do tend to download them to my PC and then copy to each Kindle in turn. There's no way I'm paying for three copies over the one actual book we used to get and then take turns reading.

The Kindle itself is a wonderful device. You can happily read it for hours without eye strain and the battery lasts weeks. A tablet PC, ipad, ipod would all hurt your eyes with prolonged reading so while handy as a reading device I wouldn't recommend if you like your reading.

I'm not 100% sure but there may be other free digital books out there too. ;)

I have a kindle. Perfect for reading books, no eye strain, long battery life and very light. Although you are tied to amazon for purchasing books, you can access PDFs of off copywrite books for free from various sources.
