What budget for a decent BF3 setup?

Hi guys,

Been into console gaming since childhood and have never really got involved in PC gaming at all, until now. I am keen to see what the hype is all about and with BF3 not too far away gives me the perfect opportunity to base a setup around.

The setup will only really be used for FPS's, specifically BF3 and maybe the odd childhood memory game such as Theme Park etc.

I will be coming from a heavy mac user background (iMac, MacBook Air, iPad, iPhone 4, Apple TV2 etc) and literally haven't touched Windows in 10 years.

What sort of budget should I allow for a total setup with absolutely everything needed to play BF3 on high settings?

Smething like the spec below should be able to handle BF3, but it depends on your max budget:

To be honest I don't have a budget as such, that said I won't be throwing £2000+ at the setup.

I guess based on the above I could get a monitor, OS, mouse and keyboard for a total of £1000 (including the above)?

I think realistically a 27" screen is essential, if I get anything smaller I know I will end up upgrading shortly afterwards.

Done some changes, keyboard & mouse was a set just put in, monitor you probably need to check the monitor section:

RJC has done you a nice list there, you may need a disk drive though :)

The WD hard drive under the Windows operating system :)

motherboard does SLI, so when you want to upgrade just add another 560Ti (and a bigger PSU)

*edit*
seeing what RJC has missed, my build is only ~£30 more than RJC's

At the time the op did not include a budget so I just designed one for the op as rough idea on cost of a system.

But £57 does allow a little more.

I meant an optical drive, say a dvd drive, I call them disk drives =P

I see, I deleted by mistake then!! - luckily they are only £14 ~

Cheers :)

Im willing to drop the graphic card completly for now though, only concerned about the case. Is that case a good one? Good cooling etc?
