Hi guys,
I would like to upgrade my computer but the more i look at the stuff online the more confused i get.
I currently use my computer for my college work and games.
My current build is:
> Mainboard : HP ML110 G4
> Chipset : Intel i3000
> Processor : Intel Xeon 3040 @ 1866 MHz
> Physical Memory : 4096 MB (2 x 2048 DDR2-SDRAM )
> Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce 9300 GE
> Hard Disk : Maxtor 4R160L0 ATA Device (164GB)
> DVD-Rom Drive : SONY DVD RW AW-G170A
> Monitor Type : Hewlett Packard HP L1940T - 19 inches
> Network Card : Broadcom BCM5721 NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet PCIe
> Operating System : Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)
> DirectX : Version 11.00
> Windows Performance Index : 2.8 on 7.9

I would like a 3.0 GHz CPU as that's what most of the games i play minimum are. A duel screen would be nice but i doubt this can handle it
A friend of mine recommended to get a bundle.
I would like to spend around £200 but i can go higher if need be.
Is a bundle what i need? If, Yes which bundle would you recommend? If, No what is it i should be looking for?

Thanks

If you are gaming you gpu is very poor so you may need to look at upgrading that to, but i think you will need a new system.

Those specs aren't up to much gaming any more :( I recommend scrapping most of it
Was this a prebuilt system or did you build it yourself? What case is it in?

I brought it for £20 about 3-4 years ago
Its in its HP PROLIANT ML110

A bundle really won't help much. The Proliant is fundimentally a server, it's not really designed to be anything more (HDD is a dead give away) as such it's not really upgradeable in this manner. As above i'd recomment a new build if you want to play games.

However, the unit can be upgraded, but the cost is extremely low value compared to the performance increase you will see.

Take a look at this:

The Primo range is not amazing, but it might fit your budget.

Food for thought, im sure there are others here who will have more suggestions on this subject, just keep checking back :)

There you go :)

I think you'll have to rebuild the whole thing, apart from possibly take windows and the DVD-RW if it's SATA

You might also find someone on here who has an old PC kicking around gathering dust they might let you have cheap.

I think there is a thing on the site somewhere for stuff like this, but im not sure where it is or how it works.

It's the MM, you need 1000 posts and 180 days of time on the forums;

"Members Market?
The members market is provided as a free service to active and contributing forum members. OcUK are not liable for any deals that are done in the Members Market, you are free to buy and sell at your own risk. Please read the rules of the Members Market before you proceed to make your first sale.

Access to the Members Market forum requires two things. Firstly, you will need to have over 1000 posts and have been signed up for at least 180 days. Please note that this does not mean you spam the forums simply to increase your posts, as this action will result in posts being deducted, and if you continue this behaviour, your account will eventually be banned/suspended. Once you reach 1000 posts, you will need to activate your trust. The Trust system is for Members Market feedback only and not to be used for general user comments. Abusing the trust system will not be tolerated and such abuse will result in your account being suspended/ banned. Trust activation is either found in your UserCP, or you can press the trust button that appears at the bottom of all your posts.

Once you satisfy both of these criteria, Members Market access will be granted within 24hrs. Please do not post on the forums asking why you cannot access the members market, if you have any queries, email one of the forum Dons/Admins. The contact addresses are available in the FAQ. There is no buying, or selling allowed outside of the Members Market."

I think you'll struggle with a £200 budget, as you need to replace pretty much everything.

I used to have access to the MM when I was here many years ago under a different account. I bought a CPU from a guy which I still use to this day! You used to definitely be able to pick up some bargains... I presume it's still the case today. And you know that it'll have been lovingly cared for in virtually all cases too ;)
