I got a burr grinder on Amazon about £35 on offer some years ago, it's a German make, it's good, but loud as **** when it's running which isn't ideal if you want coffee early in the morning.
I can't see it on there but there are others that look very similar for about £40.
I actually had a really good hand operated one at one point for about £15.
I dont like those cheaper electric "pot' style grinders with blades in.
James Hoffman did a review comparing a few grinders recently, with the cheapest one being the XeoLeo grinder which was in that price bracket I think (vs the Ode and the top Wilfa one which were about £200 and £300 I think). Bodum Bistro Burr Grinder is also another one although that's a bit cheaper than everything else.
I've got a Sette 270Wi and really like it. The Sette 30 is a cheaper model, but uses the same grind mechanism so grind quality should be the same. The biggest downfall of the Sette series is reliability, but Coffeehit are (or at least were) authorised repairers and do warranty repairs themselves. They also sell refurbished unites from time to time at a considerable discount - might be worth giving them a shout to see if they can sort you something out?
For the love of god no. Baratza were OK, they did have one or two grinders that were not that reliable. I can see their name on said grinders in the future quietly disappearing along with any after sales service if it hasnt already.
