high guys

Soon to be in the market for an upgrade, going to be buying E6600, Cellshock or 10th Anniversary 6400 RAM but with so many motherboards to choose from I have no idea in what direction to go. Hoping to hit somewhere in the region of 500FSB. Best to go for an Asus P5B Deluxe or something newer maybe 680i chip

opinions would be most welcomed

Don't need FSB for a 6600. 400 - 450 max is more than enough.
975 or 650/680 boards are your best bet for that CPU.

is that because I can make use of the multi or just a high FSB not really required with that chip. Are the multi`s unlocked? guess ill be looking around 7 or 8 multi then, is that right? Not really any need for me to spend £200 for top RAM then is there or is it more advisable to give me more headroom?

Nice work on the P5E, just been reading the whole thread on that board which you post an awful lot hehe

On stock multi (9) you'll get 3.6ghz which is about average for the 6600's at 400 FSB. Above 400 and the 965 boards switch to a slower chipset strap so you loose performance (this does mean you can reach uber FSB but you'll be CPU limited so there's no point) whereas the 975 boards don't.
It does mean you can spend less on ram yes, if you opt for one of the Nvidia shod boards though you can certainly make use of more expensive ram if you wanted too.

Isnt it a shod nvidia board that you just bought and have had great results with?? Cause based on your results with Asus P5N-E SLi nForce 650 i am very tempted being only £88

Would you recommend it?

Yup, 650i.
For overclocking it's awsome. Should be ok for a 24/7 board too as long as its got all the features you need :)

ok. So there is this board which is great for overclocking...based on my current equipment list, which board would be most stable from 400 - 500FSB? apart from this Asus P5N-E. just trying to get various options

I don't think he meant shoddy - I think he meant equipped.
