Silly question!

I just purchased a Aego M 2.1 speakers and the box doesnt come with a cable to plug it into a PC. just a couple of cables with the connectors on, and the other end some bare wire

I am eager to test out these speakers, they are tiny, I cant see them being as good as my Logitech Z-680s :)

The bare wire needs to go into the back of the subwoofer, if you're referring to the cables for the satellite speakers. Then there should be a 2x Phono connector -> 1x 3.5mm connector to plug the subwoofer into the pc's soundcard.

Don't let the size of them fool you, these are simply awesome speakers. Really clear sounding and i'm too scared to put them up on full volume, i barely turn the knob a quarter way up they're so loud

I have the speakers, the bare wires go into the clips on the back of the sub then into your PC with the mini jack.

then there's two other cables for the left and right channel satellites.

sorry i was being dumb then

on the soundcard I thought you needed two leads coming out for Right and Left, but you just need the one for 2.1? (havent used 2.1 in a while!

Do these speakers take a while to "burn in"? i have been listening to them for 10 mins and they dont sound that impressive imo, the treble seems good, base is weak

Maybe im just used to my z-680s ! (which are currently blown!)

A couple of things regarding the bass:

There's a three-position switch on the back of the sub which controls bass amount. Check to make sure it's not on the lowest setting [can't remember whether that's up or down, sorry].

Is your sub positioned in the room for optimum low-frequency distribution? Try moving it to a few different areas [not easy, given the short power cable, I know] if possible.

I've got no experience of z-680s, but I've found that other Logitech x.1 speakers have a heavy bass bias; a boominess that's far from accurate or balanced, but if you're a real basshead you might well be used to this. The Aegos are designed for balanced/neutral output [well, as much as they can be given the hardware limitations], whereas the Logitechs almost certainly aren't.

This being said, check the source of your audio. You may have compensated for any deficiencies in the Logitechs by applying EQ; you'll definitely need to reconfigure for the Aegos if this is the case.

I've used Aegos for years, along with higher quality audio setups in recording studios, and never found them weak in the bass department. Not huge, but not weak. It's more about precision with the Aegos, and less about foundation-shaking.

just thought I give you a update.

Im a lot more happier with these speakers now, not too sure if they needed to "wear in"
or if I got used to them.

the sub seems to be a lot more basey as well, but it could be better, I havent increased the little switch to setting 3 yet, might give that a go.

its nice to get rid of all of the cables of my old 5.1 system, looks much more tidy. Think for now on I will just get a decent 5.1 system for my TV when I move out!!
