I currently have an old Belkin wireless router, I am looking to upgrade with a budget of £100, what are considered the best in that budget?

Get one of the Linksys WRTs that can be modded to support the Tomato custom firmware - you'll not beat that with any (home) router.

Another vote for a WRT54GL + Tomato firmware

Hows does realtime bandwidth graphs, bandwidth usage stats and rock solid reliability sound? :)

EDIT: And its cheep, like the budgie..

Tomato-L here too and it's so solid it makes me wee with excitement sometimes.

I got mine yesterday, and aside from some problems with remote assistance (which tbh I don't even think is down to the WRT) it's awesome. My Netgear DG834GT is going in a cupboard :( I know it's not a concern on cable, but my Linksys kit (AM200/WRT54GL) syncs nearly a meg and a half higher than the Netgear on the same line. You won't be sorry! Superb service from OCUK too, even if they are like £1 dearer than some bargain places. You definitely get what you pay for - I'm over the moon with mine :D

cheap option

have a tplink cheapo thing here,

15 quid and its worked flawlessly for the last 6 months wireless is better than my 54g it replaced and firmware is just a straight netgear rip :)

The higher sync rate is just due to the modem chipset used in the AM200/Netgear. The AM200 is a very good modem from what I've heard but sync rates will simply depend on what chipset your router/modem uses and what chipset the DSLAM uses.

AFAIK it uses a Broadcom chipset just like the BT Voyager 2091 (and probably the Netgear DG834GT?). Neither have come anywhere hear to the AM200 for sync-ability. Either way I'm happy :D I just hope it's as good when I move to Be in October (still in contract lol).

Yeah, the GT uses the Broadcom too.

I'm surprised that you're seeing such a higher sync rate on the AM200 as commpared to the GT though. As far as i'm aware, the newer firmwares on the GT pretty much push the chipset/sync rate as far as it will go.

edit: It will be good for Be. Broadcom chipset is definitely the best choice for their service.
