Hi Guys,

Can anyone advise me on what cables i need to connect a plasma screen to my pc.

I guess i need a DVI to HDMI cable for video but what for sound, is a phono RCA cable ok? If i do use a phono cable do I need a splitter (because my pc speakers are currently attached to the sound card)

I have a Nvidia8800GTS and XFI extreme music soundcard.

Many thanks

Ferret

Depends a lot on the TV and what connectors you have on it. If it's a newer TV then it should have a VGA port and a HDMI port on it, so you can either use:

1. VGA cable and a DVI -> VGA convertor on the graphics card end
2. DVI cable and a DVI -> VGA convertor on the tv end
3. DVI/VGA cable and a VGA/DVI -> HDMI convertor on the tv end

Sound however I'm not sure. Plugging into the HDMI port won't count for much since you are converting to it from a DVI/VGA source therefore there's already on sound on the line. You *may* be able to use a 3.5mm stereo to 2x phono cable to get 2 channel sound, but I don't know if the TV would use it for sound when you are on the HDMI/VGA channel on the TV (if you know what I mean).

Best thing of course would be a receiver, then you could plug into that :)
