BBC Click use Canon C300s. I was watching Rick Stein in Shanghai and Portillo in the USA and was wondering what kind of camcorders they use?

Big range really, Canon C300s and Sony FX700s for mid range, whole host of DSLRs and GoPros etc for fillers and specialist stuff, up to RED Epics and Arri Alexas for higher budget pieces.

Why do you ask?

Just interested in how they film the docu stuff in tight spaces. Seeing Portillo in trains they cant have a huge setup when filming him sitting opposite.

You'd be surprised how big some of it can be. Most programmes I've been involved with have used Sony PMW-400's and 500's and on occasion PMW-F5's. (even in tight spaces, like stagecoach buses) For news self shooting, journalists use the smaller PMW-200's.

Each broadcaster has their own standards, so the BBC tend to use Canon and Panasonic as do ITN. Lower end broadcasters utilise DSLR's, usually canon. (for example, made in cardiff)
