What can a newb cook?

Right...Wednesday night...it's my turn to cook for me and my flatmate.

I need something thats easy to do, looks the biz and doesn't cost the earth.

Suggestions?

Getting a steak perfect isn't that easy, well atleast some of the places I goto eat seem to be unable to do it properly.

Well I can always go and buy ingredients.

I dunno...anything really. This Wednesday she did marinated bbq chicken with melted cheese and bacon along with salad and wedges.

SO yeah, I want to do something on par with that really
