I got my car back from the repair guys at the weekend an tried to drive it last night an the battery was dead managed to get it jumpstarted but the clutch is extremely stiff to press down, i have driven it the 10miles to work today as no other transport

does anyone have any clue what can cause it i can press it fully to the floor but it takes a bit of effort

does sound like a cable, im pretty sure they are cable driven. Has it been stood for a while maybe got some damp/corrosion in there.

yes it has been stood for a few weeks

i slid into someone in the snow on dec 22nd and i recived my car back on the 30th jan,
the only car damage was my drivers light and wing, as i managed to slide it almost into the road but still clipped the parked car infront

that car has a cable clutch. the reason i know, my brother's clutch pedal in his did go really stiff.

i disconnected it from the clutch release arm and syringed oil down the cable. it was perfect after that

took about 10 mins or so. a circlip attached the cable to the clutch arm. ive got syringes for loads of car stuff so just used that

i hung the cable from the bonnet whilst i went and had a coffee, the idea being the oil would run further down the cable

Usually cable but the release fork shaft can be siezed, so can the fingers on the pressure plate, causing same symtoms, worth looking at if lubing the cable doesn't work.
