what can i do to a workmates pc while he is away?

Right basically he put a picture on my computer so when it started up it showed a load of old uni teachers we used to see.

I need to do something more funnier to his machine while he is away?

Were running windows 2000 and were network admins so can do anything to the machine, dont want to do anything physical to it though like tape it up as that is a no no.

any ideas? he is a leeds supporter if that helps.

not a bad idea but i cant logon as him unless i change his password as he is away on holiday, then tell him his new password when he gets back.

i can access his pc but wont b able to change his background without doing the above.

here's a good one

If you have admin access to the PC, open up regedit on your PC, then connect to his machine through regedit, so that you can see his registry.

Now create a batch file with the following in:

:1
Echo You are a tool
PAUSE 
GOTO 1

Replace "you are a tool" with whatever message you like.

now save the batch file and put it on his c:

Now navigate his registry and find:

HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\Windows NT\current version\winlogon

Find the key called "Shell" double click on it and it will currently have "explorer.exe" in there, replace this with the path and name of the batch file i.e. (c:\myfile.bat).

Now when your mate logs back on, all he will get is the message "you are a tool" repeatedly

You can fix this by connecting to his reg again and putting back the "explorer.exe" filename in the shell command.

Nope You can change the background by going into his profile remotley, navigating to Local Settings > Application Data > Microsoft and changing the 'Wallpaper1.bmp' file to the one you want but it must be called 'Wallpaper1.bmp' for it to work

Providing he is not a great touchtyper, swap 2 key caps on his keyboard. Usually 2 next to each other and if possible use a letter that is in his password.

Well just copy his wallpaper and desktop icons over to the OP's machine and do a screen dump like that Even if that doesn't work, then I'm fairly sure that the desktop wallpaper is held in a reg key somewhere, you just need to find his account's CSID

Print screen, paste into image editing program, save as full quality, right click desktop > arange icons by > untick show desktop icons. Set the screenshot you took as the background and it'll look like the icons are there

Another good one (I did this to my boss to stop him playing games), make a copy of command.com, rename it to sol.exe now open up Windows/System32 and rename sol.exe to something else and put your renamed command.com (now sol.exe) into the system32 directory.

Now everytime he tries to play solitare, the PC will reboot.

You can do this for most programs.

lol, the fun and games me and my mate Tom used to have at work doing this.

First off, he was really into football, and always had the Sky sports Flash thing which gives you all the scores.
One day when his team were playing, he popped out for 2 minutes down the road. I print screened the desktop (with the skysport scores) and photoshopped the scores!
His face...!

We always used to use the desktop classic. Print screen, take off all the icons (Put them into another folder on the root of C: (The ones we couldnt get off, Download Tweak UI , No messing around here. ) Hide the task bar, and make the screen slightly bigger so you couldnt see the peak of it.

When reparing a PC at work, unplug the Power Jumper from the Case to the motherboard. It wouldnt boot! He used to spend ages trying to get it to boot!
