62468 is a stupid service, which is just some utter date line garbage, and i'm sure it's naughty and charges you a £1 or so everytime you receive a message!

I tried to send back "STOP" but it didn't go through, and today I recieved my second message.

My mobile number is already registered with the TPS, and I was wondering what else could be done to prevent receiving these messages?

Lifted from intranet at work, hope it helps

Stop Instructions

"For subscription services, please text STOP to the short code to cancel the service. STOP may take up to 48 hours to be effective. If you are subscribed to more than 1 service text STOP ALL to cancel all services on that short code. You may be sent free marketing messages"

Yeah if the STOP code doesn't work, ring the number - its probably an automated service but it will remove it. If that doesnt work, ring your provider and raise merry hell. They will soon stop ;)

Your provider will tell you there is nothing they can do - which legally is correct as they are not allowed to block SMS messages (potential to restrict trade).
So calling "O2" for example wouldn't do you any good.

Hi

I tried the stop code again and the website but i'm not sure if it has worked. I have emailed 02 last night and am waiting for their reply.

edit stoofa - darn, I didn't think of that :(

The network operator has to allow access to the service provider and make outpayments to them, as I understand it. Both parties (network and service provider) have a set of rules to comply with, (including the recent "Barring of all premium rate text charging to all non-premium rate numbers").

Your network provider will provide you with details of the offender if you ask for them, as required by ICSTIS and OFCOM. The networks responsibility to comply with the codes of conduct will outweigh their obligation to provide access to premium service operators, especially those that dont comply with the rules. Its surprising how much can be achieved through the network operators but, if needs must, put a complaint in with ICSTIS (they cant help you get refunded but they can generally help to get the texts stopped.

In fact, the ICSTIS site has contact address and telephone numbers for the provider of 62468. Though they may be out of date.
