What can i do with a laptop that works but has a cracked screen? poss project?

hi guys

got an old dell laptop with a p4 1.8ghz cpu, 30gb hard drive, works fine apart from the screen is cracked and cant see a thing on it.

Ive connected it to a monitor via the VGA socket and it all works a treat

i was wondering what i could use it for? ive got a home network, already using a pc for ipcop, maybe a SETI box?

any ideas?

Depending on the way its constructed you can sometimes remove the lid completely and just have the base, far easier to use on a monitor. The vga wires dont need to be connected internally on most laptops for them to boot and run the output from the rear.

put in a touch screen so windows 7 wont have a unused feature !

hehe, its a spare machine that i use and i already have a laptop, it would not be worth fixing the screen.

ive just put xp on it and it works a treat.
