What can I do with this old Freeview box??

I have an old Phillips set top box which I got when I was subscibed to ITV digital years back.

Now all it shows is a red dot on the screen when you turn it on. I imagine that this is because of the defunct ITV Digital smart card which is plugged into it.

My question is, can I somehow use this box to see freeview or should I just bin it?

As long as it's tuned it should be able to get freeview, we have an old Pioneer ITV digital box working fine, but it's using an On Digital card.

Mine actually has an On Digital smartcard so I guess mine should work too.

Anyone ideas why I can only get a red dot on the picture?

Mine does that when it's lost the signal.

I had a PACE on digital, didnt even have a viewing card, worked fine for freeview. Red dot is as already mentioned the indication for no signal.

Can you get into the service menus, and simply retune it?
