Thinking of upgrading from my 8800 GTS 512mb to card stated above and was just wondering what sort of perfrormance you guys are getting, and whether I would be able to run decent aa/af at 1920 x1200. I'm getting between 45-60 with everything on high except shadows, with bloom and HSAO set to off. I'm quite happy with this performance apart from the jaggies! Would really love some AA! Looking at reviews it seems the HD 5850 struggles at 4xAA so would it be worth me going for a 5870 bearing in mind I need a new PSU aswell? Or keeping my card till ATI refresh? Other components are [email protected], 4gbDDR2 Ram. Windows 7 64bit.

I run BFBC:2 at 1600/900, 4x aa \ 16x af, Game settings on Max, DX11.
I get avg around 60-70 and no slow downs, runs smooth as silk as far as I can see :)

I've had a LAN party at my house this weekend. 3 people with a 5850 and 3 people with 5770. I'll have to say I'm glad I got the 5850. The 5770 runs great @ medium, the 5850 @ high and ofcourse medium even better. I'm a bit of a freak regarding frame drops, in big firefights they go down in high, I find that almost unplayable, in medium you don't have that. But like I said I'm a freak, my friends find it perfectly playable :)

Was that one of them crazy Dutch LAN party's ?

I feel the same, decent FPS are key to enjoying a game. Everything else comes after IMO.

FPS
Resolution
AA
AF

And then the rest of the really useless crap.

FizzX
Eyefinity
3D Roy Orbison vision Glasses

I have 280 which would struggle from time to time on the said res with some AA etc, tried my bro's 5850 and it was much better. Want to get one (two eventually) myself but have to wait until I have the cash

Thanks for the replies guys. What average frames are you getting Clairvoyant? What res are you using Boozebeard? Thats basically the same GPU as mine so that performance doesn't seem right. On some maps I'm getting pretty much 60fps. Panama Canal however drops to 30's in places. I've been amazed at how well the 8800 GTS performs in this game. It's just those jaggies which annoy me! Thanks rolypolyman, thats the review I had a look at. Wasn't much details for my res though.

Running a 5850 with i7 both at stock, running on full settings. 8xAA and 16xAF DX11. Minimum frame rate is 55-60. Running without HBAO - can't see the point in it.

Have a look in this thread for some of my benchmarks going from dual core/5850 to i5/5850.

With quad core:

All settings at medium ingame.

5850 not overclocked with an i5 at 3.6GHz and I can run at 1920x1200 with the in game "high" setting with dx11 and average 40-50 fps. I generally just play with the medium as I can't see a huge difference, but once I get round to overclocking I'm sure I'll move up to high permanently.

Btw, I'm using the 10.3 driver but not the preview.

I run mine at 1920x1200 2x AA 4x AF high everything and HBAO off as I dont really see anything different! I get like 70fps in open space, drops bad sometimes though to like 30fps when a lot is going on and i mean a lot like buildings falling down and people running round with tanks shooting next to it. I've got a Sapphire 5770 btw.

5850 looks like a decent card i'd go for it, unless you spend 80 quid more on the 5870!

Thanks a lot for taking the time to help everyone. Think I'm gonna have to go for it! Or see how much the 5870 2gb comes in at........ I wish!
