I have no idea about what's good value for a laptop so i'm turning to you lads.

Mainly going to be used for web browsing by my gf but i'd like something that could play games too, i'm not expecting to run crysis on it but i would like to be able to play civ 4 and the like plus some older games so i'd need dedicated graphics.
Is this possible for around 400 or am i asking too much?

hi there, I have found a great laptop if you dont mind buying grade a, argos returns.

ACER ASPIRE 6930 = £398.99

Its got Core 2 Duo inside, + the Nvidia 9600M graphics card, with 1GB memory. Good Deal if you ask me.

Or if you want something new:

Medion Akoya P6613 = £399.99 (prob get it cheaper)

This only has a pentium dual core but does have a fairly decent card for the money.

NVIDIA GeForce G105M graphics 256mb Dedicated Mem.

----------------------------

Both pretty good laptops, it is hard to find dedicated graphic cards on laptops <£400.

(Just a small note, i have purchased laptops from argos clearance shop and mine came with not so much as a smudge, perfect condition. See what you think.

Regards

Thanks for the reply, i can't find your first recommendation in the argos website but i've found it somewhere else for 430, is this still good value? if so i think ill get it tomorrow if i cant find any better.
I did find this Compaq Presario CQ61-406SA for 418 but i think this has a much older gcard?

the compaq has integrated graphics. either intel's X4500 or Ati's HD4200/3200 or whatever. so i'd go for what daniel has mentioned.
