just ordered my new setup:

• Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)
• Noctua NH-U12F (Socket LGA775/754/939/940/AM2) HSF
• Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
• CellShock 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz Dual Channel Kit
• BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC2 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)
• Western Digital Raptor 150GB WD1500ADFD 10,000RPM SATA 16MB Cache
• Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB 5000AAKS SATA-II 16MB Cache
• Samsung SM-226BW 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor (Silver/Black)
• Lian-Li PC-7 PLUS Aluminium Midi-Tower Case (Black)
• Lian Li C-01B Aluminium CD-ROM/DVD-ROM Bezel (Black)
• Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-520HXUK)

just wondering what can be expected in terms of overclocking? i'm thinking the cpu will go nicely to 3gb and not sure about where other components could get to?

i'm gonna stick with the relatively quite air setup but if a gpu fan is required let me know (although from what i've read i dont think it is)

tell me where i can get her to :) (bear in mind stability is very important but i'm sure thats obvious)

3ghz on the cpu is almost a gimme - I would be dissapointed if I couldn't get a 1ghz overclock on it (3.4).

The cellshock memory is very good - possibly 1000mhz @5-5-5-15.

I would think 10k on 3dmark06 is easily attainable once your setup as been teaked some..

The only weak link in that setup I can see is the PSU. Although very good and capable of powering your setup at stock it may be reaching its peak when overclocked, I would have been tempted to go for the next model up or even higher as a PSU is often the least often upgraded item and with power hungry GPUs just getting greedier it makes sense to have a little in reserve come your next upgrade.

Is it worth overclocking anything?

If you value extra performance for free then yeah, why not. ;)

that comment of mine regarding the graphics was largely due to me getting the "OC2" version of the GTS... not overclocking in general (jeez :D)

it was more of a point regarding how close to its limit on stock cooling they have pushed the OC2 variant :)
