I bought a prebuilt PC from OC a few months ago. It came with a 4870 512MB card but the fan on it is driving me mental. I stopped by a couple of months ago to ask for help and it was suggested I buy an aftermarket cooler. The cooler didn't fit my particular brand of card and even after I hacked some bits off to make it fit it ran quieter but much hotter. So I think maybe I will just replace the card with something quieter, but i'm not sure how to tell which card I can change to.

The PC has a Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 motherboard, 200mhz BUS. Could you suggest something I can change to to save my ears?
 
Pretty much any ATI 5XXX card the 5770 is basicly the same performance as the 4870 minus most of the noise/heat.

Any pice-e graphics will fit your motherboard depends what you want to spend i.e if you want to more power or not.
 
Thanks very much, I will look into those. I'm not bothered about performance, the 4870 does everything I need, just looking to save my sanity!
