What car for my girlfriend?

My girlfriend is looking to get herself a decent second hand car in a price range of £8k max. She is looking for something that is small(ish), so no 5 doors please. It has to be good on fuel. (She has no preference to petrol or diesel). Comfy and with a little bit of oomph added as well. Oh, not forgetting that it has to have a wee bit of style in there too. Can anyone recommend something to get her thinking about as I have no idea All I can think about is a merc A class

Yaris with the 1.4 D4D engine.

Shes a girl so will love it cause its a Yaris and will get great mpg.

She mentioned the Yaris on more than one occasion
