any idea lads

306 DTurbo SCREW MOD OMGLOLWTFBBQWINNARRR!!!11111

i appologise for the outburst but someone has to say it

The HDI turned up on a 99T so they're around 2.7k+ unless they have intergalactic mileage. I'd avoid the HDI tbh as the early ones had problems - my mate's Mrs rejected a 99T Meridian after lots of ECU problems. Oh and they don't have an intercooler - only the 110bhp version did and that wasn't available in the 306.

If you want a 306 get a late XUTD car and make it a D Turbo. That said there are rumours around that some 1998 cars can have conrod problems...

I'm trying to think of reasons to spend £2500 on an 8 year old Megane.

Not found any yet..
I knew you had to get your 'humor' in there somehow.

I think he should get the Xsara.

I was just fishing for other options. Anyway, is it going to be any older than a 306 as previously suggested? I doubt it.

Why do you suggest cars you don't personally recommend? Anyone can look on Autotrader at cars that cost £x, the whole point of asking what car is best is that you benefit from peoples opinions on whats hot and what isn't. If you post a car as a recommendation surely it should be something you recommend, with a few details on why you recommend it, rather than something massively overpriced simply becuase it happened to be the right price on Autotrader?

yeah i look on autotrader but am not sure abotu cars on there i guess its looking in the paper as well. not to sure on XSARA's never really liked them. would love a nice golf tdi but they are so pricey still!

Ok.

One of my friends has a Megane. He's had it for around 4 years and during that time its been very reliable. I've been out in it and its comfy and spacious inside, whilst not being the most fantastic quality in the world it was perfectly adequately specced. The suspension was a bit wallowy, and the engine a bit ropey. Not the worst in the world though.

Yeah for that money you're very limited (my brothers just been looking in the same price bracket and we didnt see much that was good) and I dont think you'll find anything as good as your Honda.

The mix of

Cheap
Good Economy
Low Insurance
Fast
Reliable

is a pretty difficult one to do. Fox might not be too far off with his Mondeo. He gets pretty good mpg.

We were also very constrained by size (very tight parking conditions), so the Mondeo was a bit too big. But the Mondeo is very tempting if you dont have that contraint, and there are probably other cars too. :)

Ah ha. Constrained for size, economical, nippy. I've just thought of something, and I'm sure a forum regular would be along to tell you how good it is.

Oh, and I've never driven one, or even seen one, so perhaps I shouldn't suggest it.
And if you think mine is a marmite car....
