Nicked this from another forum and it's got me stumped too. The blue car, anyone know what it is?

My first thought was Datsun as it seems to be quite small and Datsun had a thing for fastbacks, but that's not it.

Gonna drive me nuts, this :D

Considering there are countless forums with 50 page threads of guesses and no one able to come up with a concrete answer I'd say the same is going to happen here.

You never know, someone's dad / uncle / aunt / grandad / whatever may have one in a garage somewhere.

It's worth a shot.

Does it have gull wing doors? The lines look like it could, can't be many cars around that age with gull wings.

Someone on Autosport forums seems to have come quite close. It's still not definite though.

The rear wing looks sunbeam alpine-ish, but nothing else does. My guess is some sort of Ford special, as the wheel trims don't look all that 'racy' to match the fastback style.

The rear sloping headlights remind me of something, but I can't think what...... However, the rear sloping screen pillars and the proximity of the door shut to the rear wheel arch do look similar (but quite difeferent!) to the car in this article: (under the quote)

I've spoken with the owner Mathew, and I think we discussed it here on TNF before, and it seems likely the basis of HIS car's old body was a Speedex Sirocco, but perhaps it was modified (not very well) to look something like the mysterious blue car? maybe someone saw it at a show.

Surely someone will have featured the blue car in an article at the time, it looks a fairly well resolved project to be an amateur special.

Speedex Sirocco. Looks a bit similar.

I recon it's custom.

There's so many parts that look like their from different cars.

That's what I thought. I also thought Triumph GT6 at first!

If no-one across multiple forums knows what it is (I've seen some pretty obscure crap identified by people on Pistonheads, so it'd have surely been identified by now), then it's probably just a one-off custom / extremely low volume kit car thing that someone's knocked up in their spare time.

it is totally custom, if no one from piston heads is able to figure it out after 22 pages it has got to be a one off :)

Indeed, and given the fact the photo is London, it could well be a one-off for someone rather wealthy.

I can see if being a mixture of:

IWR Elan
Triumph GT6
Aston Martin DB5
TVR3000M
Sunbeam
MGB GT

and a splash of others.

Edit: Could well have been a prototype?
