What car to replace my Focus :/

sarcasm like that just doesn't work 'pon t'internet.
Although i do agree, people do recommend ludicrous cars, some poor kids discussion about a first car turned into a discussion about TVRs

Yeah I'm quite a sarcastic person and that still went way over my head :)

Anyway, don't see the Cupra R as that unsuitable.. my replies surely show that. Though more likely the model below, FR? might be more what I'm after. As the person asking for help I'm taking any comments and looking into them further - so I'd rather an unsuitable reply than none at all as its all helping me figure out what I want.

Sorry I'm as dry as a nuns chuff sometimes.

How new or old of a car can you live with?

If you went BMW, £6k gets you a e46 coupe with a 4 cylinder engine.

Which for that sort of money would be my bet, obviously I'd try and get a 6 cylinder one first.

Fox, since its not over budget and I don't do high mileage I don't see your argument. At the end of the day why argue about it? I'm open to any useful info, but since the car is for me and it's rather up to me to see something as suitable or not don't ya think?

Maz, no probs! I'm hoping to go for a newer car this time, thinking 2004-2006 area. The e46 coupe is definitely tempting, though I guess I'm looking at other options first as I'm already fairly familiar with my brothers 3-series (Duke).

I'm thinking of spending 5-6k ish, less would be nice

A GOOD Leon Cupra R is £8k+. The bottom of the market starts from £7k but you dont want to buy a car from the bottom end of the market for that particular model. Now unless youve just doubled your budget, and I apologise if you have, it makes a good Cupra R over budget!

Not if you don't really know anything about the car in question, no!

Didn't someone on here paint their Octavia grille black? If I remember it looked smart.

IIRC the FR model replaced the lower cupra (non R) model later on in the MK1 Leons lifetime. It is unlikley that you will get one in your price range due to the age. Apart from the dash updates the cupra (non R) and FR are identical (ie 180BHP etc).

Personally I would look more towards the Octavia vRS as given your budget ou should be able to get a slightly newer model.

Going to take a look at a Cupra this lunchtime, mainly because the garage is only just down the road and should help me make my mind up on one. It's yellow with horrible wheels, 2.0T and £5,500. Won't know the interior condition or mileage till I see it later. Any questions I should be asking? Things Cupra's or similar cars are prone to? Thanks.

1.8T :D

only the newest model of cupra has the 2.0t, and you won't get one of them for 5.5k!

do you have it's numberplate? If so I can check its engine but it will be a 1.8t with a 2.0t badge, unless someone has done an engine conversion
