Hi
I need a new graphics card to be able to run all the new graphics intensive stuff on the upcoming Vista (well I have the trial already on my PC)

I need AGP - currently I am feeling the 5 one down here
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/ATI_AGP_Graphics_Cards.html

£40 inc del is about as far as I wanna go - will this be OK for Vista and is it a good card - or are nVidia chips recommended?

Can anyone recommended the names/models of another card they think might be better (just tell what its call if its not sold on OCUK)

Finally, I may want to play games in the future- stuff like pro-evo/fifa - none of the mega hardcore stuff like DOOM - what card would you reocmmend stepping up to just to ensure it can handle that kind of stuff?

Thanks

the ATI Radeon 9550 will run vista, but without any of the aero glass effects enabled (which im guessing is what you would like to do in vista).

as for games such as pro evo and fifa, its hard to say as the graphics in those games are now getting better due to the xbox 360/PS3/wii.

what do i need min to do AERO in Vista??

I would consider 2nd hand but not one used and abused in someone elses PC!

how about the £82 sapphire one on the same page?

Sapphire X1600 Pro 256MB DDR2 AVIVO TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-116-SP)

So far I have only been able to run vista with aeroglass on DX9 based hardware, I however do not have a huge range of hardware to test, but the 9550 is a DX8.1 counterpart not 9.

The X1600 should do it.

I need it to run Aero etc smoothly - the rest of my PC is fairly fast but I skimped on my graphics card because I only need it for egeneral desktop stuff and watching films (which my current card does fine)

don't want to make an expensive mistake and find the X1600 doesn't do it!

what differences will i see between the 9550 and the X1600

Does it matter that they are made by HIS and Sapphire?
