sorry to hijack I would also like to know when the next generation of cards is scheduled for... your card is fine for now while waiting imo, better it to be a bigger upgrade in a short while when its probably gona cost near enough the same

Well, the new versions of the 8 series are due around the end of this month so approx a fortnight and they look quite good in so far as I wouldn't buy a 8 series card atm until I see what the new ones are like.

The 9 series aren't due till Feb -Apr time so still long enough away that not worth the wait if you want good performance now with crysis etc.

So to sum up, IMO the only card worth buying today is the 2900 pro. As for which new card, I'm afraid it's wait and see and again depends on the resolution you are running.

The 8800 GT looks promising and should give 8800 GTS performance for less money.

The new 8800 GTS 640Mb will be somewhere between a 8800 GTS and 8800 GTX now so will be very good performance but nobody knows the price so may not be good value for money or may be a bargain.

Depending on where the 8800 GT and GTS are priced and their performance, the GTX may plummet in price in November so I wouldn't buy a GTX atm either.

ATI have their new card out at the end of the month as well so I'd stick with your 7800gtx for a couple of weeks and see what happens.

Well i aint got bags of cash but, if i like the look of the card then i will get it, Cant remember the price i paid for my 7800GTX but it was pretty soon after release

I suppose about £400

Roll up, roll up....this man wants to buy an 8800 Ultra

However, for reasons stated above I'd wait two weeks. At worse, the 8800 GTX and Ultras won;t drop in price, at best they will plummet and you might only need to spend £250 of your £400 and then spend the rest on beer

With 400 quid id get the GTX BFG OC and overclock it some more your sdelf and spend the rest on ram or somthing.

As for the prices plummeting. You can be assured those prices will stay high till the day the new GTX comes out. TYou might get them on special offer if your lucky.

The q6600 GO prices are still far to high tbh. You could get a GO for less then the price of ocuk's B3stepping when they were still selling them.
